The Gatehouse

The Gatehouse is a romantic luxury retreat situated in the Dordogne region of the South of France. It is nestled in the idyllic grounds of Château D’Arnac (a 15^th century fairytale Château) and provides the ultimate romantic holiday destination.

This chic cottage overlooks an ornamental lake that is fed by the bubbling waters of the Menoire river. Exquisitely furnished with Manuel Canovas wallpapers, Colefax and Fowler fabrics, antique furniture, goosedown duvets/pillows and beautiful linen, this exclusive luxury hideaway provides all modern conveniences (plasma tv, sky digital, wifi) while retaining a natural and rustic feel.

The house is set on three floors. The ground floor consists of a charming sitting room with a beautiful inglenook fireplace. It provides the perfect environment in which to unwind and relax in front of a warming log fire. Built within the round tower adjacent to the sitting room is a modern kitchen fitted with a halogen hob, bosch electric oven, smeg dishwasher, belfast sink and breakfast bar.

The first floor houses the aptly named snug. It’s equipped with plasma tv, sky digital, dvd player and music system. It provides a cozy space in which to snuggle up, read or watch a movie. Adjacent to the snug, is the luxurious first floor bedroom with ensuite black bathroom. There is a separate wc & bidet and in the atmospheric black bathroom, guests can take a long soak in the double ended bath before wrapping up in thick towels and soft bathrobes.

The second floor is home to the master bedroom suite. It has a wonderful arched timber roof and a grand four-poster bed with fairytale white curtains. The bathroom is stylishly decorated in green tiles and has a rain shower, wc, bidet and green glass bowl sink. It is a magical room and the sound of the gently flowing river will lull you to sleep.

Outside the Gatehouse is your own private little garden in which to sunbathe. Alternatively, you are able to dine al fresco on the wooden decking overlooking the lake.
